Find your way around the hearing aid market
Only 20 percent of Americans who need hearing aids wear them. One reason is the hearing aid market is unique, and the purchase a major commitment. People are reluctant to venture in. Karl Hallsten will again present his well-received workshop, Consumers Perspective on Buying a Hearing Aid. The purpose of the workshop is to help you be more confident in your search for finding the best hearing aid. The 3-hour workshop, presented in two sessions, will be offered virtually on Thursday January 28, and Friday, January 29, 2021 from 10:30 to noon. The workshop is limited to twelve participants who must be ALOHA members. If you are unsure of your membership status, call the ALOHA Center office. We’d be happy to check. Participants are encouraged to attend with their significant partner.
We will discuss what questions to ask when selecting a hearing professional. Next, we will discuss what to expect during a professional evaluation and how to prepare for it. You will learn the differences between buying a hearing aid online, in a box store or from a professional hearing care provider. Get your questions answered about why treating your hearing loss is important and what you can expect from a hearing aid. We will explore styles of hearing aids and levels of technology. You will learn what a locked hearing aid is and various ways hearing aids are priced.
