TUCSON DAYTIME are held every Tuesday, year round, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the main ALOHA building at 4001 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson AZ. Individuals thinking about purchasing a hearing aid or other listening device come to ask advice, get answers to questions, share their experiences and receive support. Family members are also welcome. Every Third Tuesday, September through June, we have a featured Speaker at the daytime peer group meeting at 1:00 pm. This will be a person with expertise in an area of interest to the Hard of Hearing. Past speakers include physicians from the U of A, representatives from therapy dog organizations, audiologists and other professionals in the field.
TUCSON EVENING are held every Tuesday, year round, from 7 pm to 8 pm at the main ALOHA building at 4001 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson AZ. Individuals thinking about purchasing a hearing aid or other listening device come to ask advice, get answers to questions, share their experiences and receive support. The Tuesday Evening Support Group has a guest speaker the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
GREEN VALLEY: In 2005, a group was established in Green Valley by Mary Simmie. Today they are held at La Posada and the meetings are led by Ebba Andersen. They meet on the 1st Monday of every month, October through May from 10:00 to noon at the La Posada Retirement Camp, in the Recreation Building. The meetings are open to everyone. Each month there is a different guest speaker who will talk about a subject related to hearing loss. The meetings are in a looped room with a great sound system so everyone can hear. There are other special listening devices available for those who might need them.
SIERRA VISTA: In 2011, an additional group was established in Sierra Vista by Karl Hallsten. The hearing loss support group with information sharing is held in the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center (SVRHC) Wellness Depot (located in the Sierra Vista Mall). Meetings are on the first Monday of each month from 11:00 to 12:00 noon.
FAR HORIZONS EAST: On October 18, 2013, an additional group will start meeting on the far east side of Tucson at the Far Horizons East Mobile Home Park. This group is led by Patty (Rivard) Harvey. Like the Oro Valley and Green Valley groups, the meetings are held in “Looped” rooms on the third Friday of each month from 2:00pm to 3:00pm year round. The address is 7570 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson AZ. Please tell the guard at the gate that you are there for the ALOHA meeting.
ORO VALLEY: The Oro Valley Support Group meets the Second Thursday of the month , October through May from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Santa Catalina Catholic Church (Cholla & Ocotillo Meeting Rooms), 14380 N. Oracle Road – Tucson, AZ 85739. Joan Eddy is the group facilitator. Each month there is a different guest speaker who will talk about a subject related to hearing loss. The meetings are in a looped room so everyone can hear.
DESERT COHLEAR CONNECTIONS: This is a meeting for individuals who have or who are considering getting Cochlear Implants. There are presentations by noted experts in the field and question and answer sessions each time. Find out information about implants from experts and other implanted individuals.
Meetings are held in ALOHA’s building at 4001 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson in the looped conference room. CART transcription is provided. Meetings are from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the 2nd Saturday of each month, October to May of each year.
