Thomas Kaufmann will be giving a special presentation “Looping Our Communities–What can we learn from the Santa Barbara Project” at ALOHA on Tuesday, April 4th from 2:30 – 3:30 pm.
Thomas Kaufmann, hearing loop expert, physicist, and founder of Otojoy, will be presenting the fundamentals of how a hearing loop works and where the loop systems can and should be used. He will also report about the successes of the Loop Santa Barbara campaign and how to duplicate it in other communities. That campaign was responsible for installation of 60 loops in four years.
Tom will explain the differences between perimeter loops like we have at ALOHA and phased array loops required in many larger and more complex settings. He will be sharing information on ear buds with telecoils which allow people without hearing aids, including people with normal hearing, to enjoy the benefits of the loop without a cumbersome head set. Tom is the developer of LoopFinder.com.
This special 2:30 pm presentation will follow the regularly scheduled 1:00 pm Peer Support Group. We hope you can attend! (ALOHA, 4001 E. Fort Lowell)
